Urban Immersion NYC Summer Training Program!

The Urban Immersion NYC Summer Training Program (NYCSTP) is 7 weeks of intensive training in effective evangelism, personal discipleship and intentional community.

Given the NYU collegiate Navigator's context in a city with such influence on shaping world culture, we will place a special emphasis on faith-work integration. This is a great need in the Church today, since all too often a believer’s faith has little or no impact on their work or workplace. We will host interviews with professionals who are integrating their faith with their work in fields NYC is known for, such as consulting, marketing, music, and media.

Each week we'll have Salt and Light training - equipping students to communicate the gospel and share their faith in a culturally relevant and intelligent way. We'll do a weekly Community Outreach, reaching out to those surrounding our host church and on campus at NYU, talking with people about their spiritual journeys and sharing our own.

Every weekend, there will be opportunities to either serve the city (feeding the poor, assisting World Vision) or explore the city (including a trip to Coney Island and a Manhattan Walk, from northernmost to southernmost tip!) and to experience the broader NYC Body of Christ in the city's diverse, great churches.

Many of the students said that their main take-away from last summer – something they never heard before(!) – was that the gospel of Jesus is to be applied to every area of life – including “the hard stuff” in our hearts, and is not just for salvation and evangelism to others. The gospel is not just the ABC's of Christianity, it's the A to Z! (says fellow New Yorker, Tim Keller!)
